A Room That Grows Up With Them

Nursery · Child · Teen

A cot by the wall that becomes a low bed, then a desk under a loft; a feature wall repainted twice as tastes change; wardrobes whose rails rise as the hems get longer — a child’s room is the one room in the house that has to keep changing. Kids’ bedroom design is the craft of building that in from the start: a room zoned for sleep, play, and study, made safe, and ready to grow. Algedra designs children’s bedrooms in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al Ain, and the wider Gulf — playful, hard-wearing, and planned to last through childhood. We design for the age the child is now and the ages to come. The bones stay — a calm base, good storage, a safe layout — while the colours, the bedding, and the wall are the easy things to change as a toddler turns ten, then fifteen.

Safe by design. Furniture anchored to the wall against tipping, rounded edges, low-VOC paints and finishes, cordless blinds, and a soft, washable floor — the safety a child’s room needs, built in from the first drawing.

Zoned for the day. A place to sleep, a place to play, and a desk for homework as school begins, each with its own light, so one room carries a whole childhood.

Storage they can reach. Toy bins and low shelves for the early years, under-bed drawers, and wardrobes with rails that rise as they grow, so tidying stays within a child’s reach.

What We Design

Kids’ bedroom design runs from the nursery to the teenage years, and we design each stage:

Nurseries: a calm palette, a convertible cot, a feeding chair, and blackout for daytime naps.

Young children’s rooms: a playful feature wall, reachable storage, a soft floor, and a bed sized to the child.

Shared and sibling rooms: bunk or loft beds, two of everything, and zoning so each child has their own corner.

Teenage rooms: a study desk, a hangout corner, a grown-up palette, and a wardrobe for a growing collection.

Study and play zones: a proper homework desk with task light, and a clear space to play, built to flex as the child grows.

Furniture and joinery: bespoke, hard-wearing beds, wardrobes, and desks in washable, child-safe finishes.

The child’s room is one of the home’s bedrooms — see our bedroom interior design service for the rest of the house.

How We Work

We take a child’s room from the first conversation to the made bed, in clear stages:

The brief: we learn the child’s age, how they play and sleep, and what the room must do as they grow.

Concept and 3D: mood, palette, and photoreal views of the bed, storage, and study zone, approved before work begins.

Documentation: joinery drawings, finish schedules, and lighting, drawn to municipal code.

Fit-out: our team installing the joinery, finishes, and anchored furniture safely on site.

Styling and handover: bedding, a rug, and the final touches in place, the room handed over ready to live in.

Choose Your Style

A child’s room should delight them and reassure a parent, and ours span:

Playful Modern: colour, a mural or feature wall, and clever storage.

Soft Scandinavian: pale wood, calm tones, and natural materials.

Classic: painted panelling, a canopy bed, and gentle detail.

Adventure: a themed room — a den, a cabin bed, a reading nook — built to a child’s imagination.

Teen Contemporary: a grown-up palette, a desk, and space to hang out.
