Nareel Island Villa - Interior

A grand Abu Dhabi island residence composed in white marble, dark ebony and a recurring note of bottle-green glass, its rooms built around sculptural gestures and a garden set into the floor.

On a guarded island address off Abu Dhabi's western shore, Algedra has conceptualized the interiors of a grand family villa drawn in Calacatta marble, dark macassar ebony and a recurring note of bottle-green glass. The residence carries its scale with composure, each principal room built around a single sculptural gesture that holds the eye.

The entrance foyer opens the sequence across marble laid mirror-smooth underfoot. Fluted ebony columns rise against pale walls, and a scatter of crystal blossom pendants falls in slow constellation from a circular coved ceiling. A round hand-knotted rug in mineral tones anchors the floor, while ring-lit mirrors and interlocking champagne-metal consoles carry the light down the length of the hall.

Past the foyer, the reception majlis widens into ceremony. Ribbed plaster columns and arched screens frame a cream palette lifted by fine gold reveals, and twin plume chandeliers of clear crystal hang above a central planted court edged in black marble. Seen from above, that court reads as a quadripartite garden set into the floor, a bonsai rooted in white pebbles at its heart — a quiet nod to the char-bagh, rendered in contemporary line.

The staircase performs the house's boldest movement. A sculpted flight of pale marble curves upward behind a glass balustrade, its dark Nero Marquina stringer folding like ribbon, and a cascade of crystal shaped as a bird in flight pours through the double-height volume beside fluted white panelling.

Upstairs, the principal bedroom softens the register. A curved headboard upholstered in pleated sage velvet meets classical wall mouldings picked out in silver-grey, and a circular relief of clustered metal discs floats above the bed. An organic linear chandelier trails overhead in muted green and silver, echoing the garden held in the windows.

The family living room gathers around a radial plaster relief, its concentric lines hand-worked into the wall beside a Calacatta feature panel and backlit niches in smoked bronze. Long fluted seating in oatmeal linen carries olive cushions, twin travertine tables rest on the pale rug, and a cluster of hand-blown green glass hovers above like water caught mid-pour.

Dining draws the palette to a close. A dark timber table lined with velvet chairs in cream and olive sits before floor-to-ceiling ribbed glazing, and blossom chandeliers of fine filament shimmer across the mirrored wall, the garden pressing green against the sheers.

Across every room, Algedra threads the same discipline — honest material, generous light, and a single note of green carried from glass to velvet to leaf.
