The Lakes Villa - Interior

A large Dubai family villa in The Lakes, moving between classical formality and contemporary calm, drawn in Statuario and swirled marble, carved plaster and a teal-navy thread.

On a leafy plot in The Lakes, Algedra has conceptualized the interiors of a large family villa that moves between classical formality and contemporary calm, drawn in marble, carved plaster and a recurring accent of teal and navy. The rooms hold grandeur and ease in balance, warm metal and cool stone carried throughout.

The entrance opens in a classical register. White moulded panelling trimmed in fine silver frames a floor of marble inlaid with black, a console in ivory and gold carries a sculpted bust below a tall mirror, and a navy bouclé chair rests against the fluted curve of the wall beneath a slim wall light.

The grand majlis rises through a double height over a floor of Statuario marble bordered in grey. Panels of blue-grey marble glow behind wood-slat columns, cream sectionals trace the room in teal and petrol cushions, and glossy cube tables in figured wood punctuate the space. Overhead, a cascade of bronze ribbons curls through the volume like flame caught mid-turn.

The formal living room turns to classical ornament. A ceiling worked in rococo plaster relief crowns camel-leather modular sofas and navy bouclé chairs, black-and-brass tables rest on a square-patterned rug, and a study of a pale Arabian horse hangs against the drapes. Amber-glass chandeliers on black frames drop between the mouldings.

Dining gathers around an oval table of black-and-white swirled marble on a polished base, ringed by chairs in navy bouclé and oatmeal linen. Slim looped chandeliers run above the setting, and a classical sideboard carries a sculpted bust beneath an arched garden door.

The principal bedroom carries the classical note upstairs. Ivory panelling trimmed in gold frames a headboard wall of carved plaster worked as feathers, a waterfall of crystal falls from a stepped ceiling, and a tufted bench in teal rests at the foot of the bed on a distressed rug of cream and blue. A reclining chair turns to the garden window under sheer drapes.

A quieter suite reads in cool grey-blue. Walls of textured microcement meet a powder-blue bed between floating nightstands, brass pendants drop to either side, and backlit shelving lines a niche beside a curved lounge chair on a soft round rug.

The youngest room turns playful in the same discipline, its floating desk and shelves edged in shifting neon beside a gaming chair, grey microcement holding the walls calm behind the colour.

Warm brass, cool marble and a thread of teal carry through every room, letting the villa read as classical and contemporary at once while keeping its calm.
