The house divides in two. One half receives — long sightlines, pale stone underfoot, furniture arranged for company. The other half works, holding a gym, two studies, a library recess and a kitchen built for daily service. Both halves share one material vocabulary of marble, warm oak, glass and controlled light, which is what keeps the residence reading as a single composition rather than a set of rooms.

Light arrives deep on the garden elevations through full-height glazing, oriented so morning sun reaches the family rooms and afternoon load falls on planted, shaded faces. Solar-control glass carries a low-emissivity coating, and internal sheer layers sit ahead of blackout on tracks recessed into the ceiling, so daylight can be tuned through the day without curtain bulk showing anywhere in the room.

The main sitting room gathers around a deep sofa in oyster linen with accent chairs pulled close, tailored in the manner of Gio Ponti's postwar seating — light on their legs, low in the back. Objects stay few and chosen. A second reception opens fully to the garden, furnished with a cream sectional and low tables in stone and brass, bright enough at midday to hold conversation without a lamp lit. Dining sits beneath sculptural pendants at a long table ringed by upholstered chairs, the wall behind carrying quiet artwork in place of pattern.

Ambition shows most in the working wing. The gym runs the garden edge with timber sports flooring laid on a resilient underlay, a geometric ceiling carrying integrated light panels, and glazing that puts planting directly in front of the treadmill. Two studies follow, deliberately different in character: the first built around a wall of rough-cut natural stone with oak boards underfoot and clean-lined furniture, better suited to reading and calls taken standing; the second lined in pale timber panelling over polished marble, shelving set flush into the walls, ordered for concentrated desk work. A library recess nearby holds built-in oak shelving and cushioned seating, lamped warm at around 2700K for evening use. The kitchen completes the half in high-gloss cabinetry, marble counters and marble splashback, reflective enough to push borrowed light further into the plan.

Private rooms soften the register. The principal bedroom takes a padded headboard wall in textured panelling, flanked by slim reading lights, colour arriving only through bedding and art. A second bedroom keeps to minimal lines and neutral upholstery against a panelled backdrop washed by concealed light. Each opens toward garden green.

Dressing is treated as architecture in its own right. One room carries custom wardrobes and open display shelving in warm oak, lit within and arranged around a central seating island. Another runs lacquer fronts with glass doors and integrated lighting, folded pieces visible behind the panes, cabinetry set flush to the wall line so the geometry stays clean.

Bathing rooms carry the drama. Marble runs floor to ceiling in the principal suite, where a floating vanity with integrated lighting faces a freestanding tub placed by the window for daylight. A second room frames a glass-enclosed shower in dark stone tiling, and a third pairs marble with oak cabinetry, twin basins and mirrors framed in backlit brass. Every stone surface was impregnator-sealed and detailed with an integrated fall, a specification that matters in Dubai humidity as much as any finish choice.

A residence built to host at scale on Friday and to run a working week the rest of the time, at one address. The exterior story continues in the architecture of the same residence.
