The Nest Organic Modern Villa in Al Barari, Dubai

A villa interior shaped entirely in curves — fluted and carved travertine walls, columns of hammered blue art glass, and two sculptural chandeliers that fall through the double-height rooms like cascading feathers and looping ribbons of Murano glass.

Every room runs on the same organic logic: soft edges, hand-carved stone and a palette of warm travertine against deep sodalite blue. The main living room rises into a double-height volume capped by a cove-lit tray ceiling, from which a vast chandelier of gilded metal ginkgo leaves streams across the space like a flock caught mid-flight. Beneath it, cream bouclé sofas curl into rounded forms around pietra grey marble drum tables and fluted travertine side tables, while a feature wall layers a ginkgo-print textured panel between fluted Canaletto walnut columns with integrated lighting and display niches. The villa interior was conceptualized for a plot in Al Barari, the lushest of Dubai's low-density villa enclaves.

The grand majlis sits on a raised circular platform of honed travertine, drawn together by a dramatic draped chandelier of looping blue Murano glass set within a ring-lit oculus.

Curved modular seating faces a low sculptural bowl at the centre, and a white sculpted staircase spirals up behind a single olive tree, the dining room glimpsed through the opening beyond. The arrival vignette carries the idea further, a travertine wall carved into a soft downward wave around concealed cove lighting, holding a large convex mirror above a blue marble console crossed by a raw timber plank, a classical alabaster bust anchoring the composition between two topographic-patterned lounge chairs and tall bird-of-paradise plants.

Blue runs through the house as the counterweight to all that cream. One lounge is divided by vertical rods strung with hammered blue-glass lanterns, set against a three-dimensional plaster relief moulded into rippling, dune-like folds. The media room frames its screen between cylindrical columns of blue sodalite marble, their faceted lower cabinetry catching light, with a swirl-textured rug grounding the curved seating and sculptural fluted coffee tables. Across the formal sitting room, mauve and dusty-blue cushions soften the rounded sofas, and framed botanical ginkgo panels flank a round bronzed mirror on a fluted walnut wall.

What holds the whole interior together is the dialogue of materials: the quiet grain of travertine, the depth of sodalite and art glass, the warmth of walnut, and the recurring ginkgo motif tying ceiling, wall and artwork into one considered organic language of form.
