Four Rooms, One Palette: A New Classic Villa in Emirates Hills

ALGEDRA's designers hold cream, blush and brass steady from the salon to the garden lounge — then let a single wall of raw stone break the spell.

The bougainvillea gets a vote. That is the first thing to understand about this villa in Emirates Hills, conceptualized by ALGEDRA as a residence whose colours begin outdoors. Full-height glazing runs the length of the principal rooms. Layered sheers and silk drapery hang across it. Mature planting presses against the glass, and the rose drifts of the flowerbeds arrive indoors already tinting the light, so that the blush upholstery inside reads as an extension of the garden.

The scheme runs on a discipline that sounds simple and survives a full house only rarely: one palette, held from the first room to the last. Cream, blush and brass. Across the main salon, the open living and dining hall, the formal dining room and the garden lounge, the intensity is the only thing that shifts.

The frame

The architecture is unambiguously classical. Panelled walls throughout, their scrollwork mouldings drawn with a light hand, framing inserts of leaf-patterned damask. Twin-arm sconces in aged bronze punctuate the panels at intervals and set a vertical rhythm the eye follows from room to room. Layered cornices carry that rhythm up to the ceiling.

Consistency is what keeps the detailing architectural. The mouldings hold one profile throughout, the cornices one depth, the sconces one spacing — repetition steady enough that the frame recedes into structure and leaves the furniture to do the talking. The main salon

Here the scheme reaches its formal peak. Tufted sofas and armchairs are banded in polished brass, their cushions striped in gold chevrons and a quiet rose. A chandelier of suspended crystal rods circles the seating in light. At the centre, a round cocktail table pairs a Calacatta Viola-veined top with a mirrored bronze drum base, an idea echoed by pedestal side tables whose surfaces ripple like poured metal.

Two lamps then lighten all of it. A sculptural floor lamp shaped as a wire dancer, caught mid-turn beneath a halo of light, brings a note of wit to the formality. Across the room, a pleated-shade table lamp answers it with something softer and almost nostalgic. These two pieces are the reason the salon reads as a room someone occupies. The open living and dining hall

The same materials stretch across a longer plan. A ribbon of light twists above a marble dining table, encircled by chairs upholstered in textured ivory, their backs finished in blush capitoné tufting — a thoroughly contemporary silhouette executed with a thoroughly classical technique — each resting on splayed walnut legs. Behind them, a channel-tufted sofa faces a television wall panelled in figured stone with a floating walnut console beneath. A corner collects indoor palms, halo lamps and orchid stems against the sheer-veiled glazing.

The ceiling does the quiet work. It steps up through a lit cove set within the layered cornices, holding the full length of the room in an even, shadowless glow. Light this soft is what allows the blush to stay blush and the marble to read as a warm material — a reminder that colour temperature belongs on the palette board alongside the fabric swatches. The formal dining room

One surface carries all the drama. A field of split-face stone rises behind the console — rugged, almost lunar, entirely unpolished — lit from above and centred by a luminous ring that hovers over the texture like an eclipse.

Against so much softness elsewhere, the roughness reads as a deliberate exhale, and it lands because it happens once. Everything around it holds the line: the marble table beneath its sculpted pendant, the blush-tufted chairs repeating, a petite classical fireplace in the corner sheltering a Moorish lantern, pampas stems and dark figurative bronzes arranged along the mantel.

The garden lounge

The final room is the residence with its shoes off. Tufted armchairs with brass-strap arms turn toward the glazing. A rose cashmere throw slips over one arm. The Viola marble table returns at the centre with a fern in a stone vessel. Sunlight arrives through the sheers already softened, and the flowerbeds beyond supply colour that every fabric in the room defers to.

It belongs unmistakably to the same house as the formal salon — identical palette, identical detailing — and it is entirely at ease. That ease is the honest test of a new classic interior: the formality dials all the way down, and the scheme still holds. Which is how a villa of marble, brass and stone comes to feel like a house built for afternoon visits, long dinners and the slow luxury of a garden always in view.
